POLITICAL MANOEUVERS SABOTAGE OUR CONSTITUTIONAL CONGRESS
In a letter dated 16th February 2010 to the Mayor of Nyarugenge District, our political organisation requested the authorization to hold our constitutional congress in Kigali on 26th February 2010.
In a delay tactic move, on 22nd February 2010, the Mayor of Nyarugenge Dictrict summoned to her offices Ms. Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza, the Chair of the United Democratic Forces INKINGi to explain the arrangements related to the meeting. On 24th February the security details were discussed and the District Socio-Political Affairs Development Unity promised to issue its final decision the same day.
It is strange that one day before the congress no decision has been yet taken by the relevant local administration. We believe that the authorization has been derailed by political manoeuvrings from the RPF government in order to hinder the opposition's full participation in the country's democracy.
